Cooperation with the Professional Community / Public Information
Our service committee brings the A.A. message to professionals and to students at professional schools in our community as well as the general public at large, helping them to understand how A.A. works through our own experience.
“Our Twelfth Step — carrying the message — is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. Therefore, A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society for alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven’t been given the truth may die.”
These two efforts (CPC and PI) both have the same task at hand with the primary difference being their target audience. CPC works primarily with professionals in our community who have the opportunity to interact with alcoholics in their job. PI efforts touches basically everyone else – the general public.
Alcoholism affects not only the life of the alcoholic, but all those around them. It wounds healthy personal and professional relationships and can cause long-term affects. Understanding that there is help out there and that there are many people who are living healthy and happy lives with this illness is one of our most important responsibilities to the still suffering alcoholic. We are here to help. Our committee will be happy to help you better understand exactly what A.A. is (and what it does), and what A.A. isn’t (and what it does not do).
Member of the Get In The Car Group of A.A. located in Grapevine, TX have come together to help share information with both target audiences. We have created information for each of the target audiences we hope to build relationships with. Below is a list of those areas with links to more information about them.
